Google SoC 2007 idea: gateway interaction

Gateways enable clients on the XMPP network to speak to clients on other networks (AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and so on). This project consists of adding GUI and protocol support for using gateways from SamePlace.

Implementation could allow to:

  • create/edit/cancel registration with a gateway, log in/out from gateway
  • making dealing with other-network contacts as transparent as possible for the user (e.g. when user adds a contact from a different contact, he or she could be presented with the option of registering with an appropriate gateway)
